The Snowman and the Snowdog-Inspired Early Years Resources Immerse your early years learners in the magical world of The Snowman and the Snowdog with this engaging collection of printable activities and worksheets. These resources are perfect for fostering creativity, building foundational maths and literacy skills, and promoting fine motor development. Included Activities Creative and Roleplay Fun: Snowman templates (lined and plain) to laminate for repeated use in roleplay and the writing area. Design a Snowdog: draw or draw and write about your creation. Literacy Development: Retell the story with or without picture prompts. Write a postcard to the Snowman. Label pictures, feelings of the boy, and feelings of the dog. Colour pictures beginning with the letter S. Trace along dotted lines (small to big snowballs) to practise handwriting. Write initial sounds of festive-themed words. Maths Skills: Compare piles of snowballs and colour the pile with more. Continue a repeating pattern of snowflakes. Arrange pictures of the dog in order as he was built. Number ordering: cut and stick Snowdogs in order from 0-5. Use positional language to describe where a snowball is in relation to the Snowdog. Snowman flashcards (0-20) for games or creating a number line. Snowman cards with 0-5 snowballs: match with the correct numbered cards. Snowdog cards (0-5): circle or peg the correct number from a choice of three. Fine Motor and Cognitive Activities: Maze: help the boy find the Snowdog. Compare sizes: colour in the biggest snowman or Snowdog. Each card presents three initial sounds, and children use a peg to select the correct initial sound that matches the picture. Undersea Counting Cards This set features 10 cards, each adorned with colorful undersea creatures waiting to be counted. Children use a peg,or white board pen, to select the correct number that matches the quantity of creatures on the card. Sea Creature Description Worksheets On each worksheet, children will encounter a charming illustration of a sea creature accompanied by four spaces to describe it.
